Mike Applegate Tq's and wins Mod Truck of Rd1 Jconcepts Super Cup!

2012 Jconcepts Supercup Rd 1 was held at Bashers Rc Raceway on the weekend of the 22nd.

Team Tekin Driver Mike Applegate Tq'd Mod Truck with 29 laps / 6:10. Mike succumbed to a marshaling issue and fell a full lap down from the field during the main. Mike was then a man on a mission to regain his lead position putting on an impressive display of driving in the A main. The Force was with Applegate, and he was able to reclaim the lead position ultimately taking the win. Applegate took the first place spot with 27 laps / 6:09.

Jesse Robbers Tq's and Wins the 2012 CRCRC Nitro Challenge

Tekin powered Jesse Robbers took the overall Tq honors as well as the #1 spot in not one but all 3 classes at the 2012 CRCRC Midwest Nitro Challenge. Jesse's Tekin powered HotBodies VE8 was laying down some of the fastest laps of the weekend. Jesse was using the Tekin Rx8 and T8 1900 combination to add to his sweep of all 3 pro classes!

John Cravotta wins the North East Snow Ball Champs!

With over 170+ entries at the North East Snow Ball Championship at R/C Excitement was one of the biggest races in the region. Tekin team driver John Cravotta TQ'd the deep field of 4wd SC with his Tekin Rx8 Pro 4 combination taking the overall win as a result. John also TQ'd Electric Ebuggy and managed a 2nd Place after having some last minute trouble losing the top spot by .10 of a second! Great racing!

Phil Atondo Dominates the BRP Epic Freeze !

This past weekend B.R.P. in Lakeport CA which is near the Northwestern coastline held their first Annual Epic Freeze. It's called the Epic Freeze for a good reason as it's outdoor with the track under a cover and in the mornings it was 20-28 degrees out! The event was a blast and track was awesome with a very technical layout and high bite on smoothie tires. Tire of choice for this event were Panther Slicks in clay compound. TLR's Phillip Atondo showed for the event and a lot of fast racers from the Nor-Cal area. Atondo TQ'ed and won the first 2 A mains in exp 2wd mod buggy with his Tekin powered TLR 22 with a Redline 8.5 and also went on to win the first 2 A mains with his Tekin Rx8 Pro 4 powered Losi Ten-SCTE which were all powered by Xcelorin batteries riding on Panther Tires.

Mike Malott wins the inaugural JCP Indoor New Years Clash!

The new JCP Indoor track in Indianapolis, IN played host the the new years cash race. It was the biggest turnout of the year so far and the competition was stacked in all of the classes.

"Going into the 2nd qualifier I got off to a good start and everyone had finally settled down. I was out front on a blistering pace having a really good run. I ended up bumping the TQ pace up a full lap and setting overall TQ for the first 2 rounds. In the 3rd round they did a re-sort and the a main qual was really good. I was once again out front setting a very fast pace and was able to bump my TQ time up a few more seconds and take the overall TQ for the day.

The main started and I jumped out to and early lead right from the start. The 2nd and 3rd guys were battling and it allowed me to pull away and build a comfortable lead. I was out front and starting to pull away when I cased the triple jump and the truck flew off the track. I dropped about 8 seconds in that 1 lap and allowed 2nd to close the gap. We had a good little battle going for a few laps and he made a mistake and allowed me to get away again. I cruised the last 2 minutes to victory with my Tekin Rx8 Pro 4 Powered Hyper 10sc!" Lee Tq's and wins 2nd Annual New Years Day Race at RJD Hobby

The 2nd annual News Years Day race held at RJD hobby in Lincoln ,IL had nearly 100 entries, 36 entries in the Pro 4 SC Class alone. LeeConley was able to TQ and win the Pro 4 SC class which was with his Tekin Rx8 Pro 4 4600 KV combo. The class was filled with tough competition.

Kyle Johnson proves "fastest" at the KO Propo Race this past weekend.

Kyle Johnson finished 2nd overall with his Tekin Powered Losi scte sc 4x4 at the Ko Propo race held at west coast rc. The race format had Kyle in triple a mains. Kyle won one of the three mains along with with two second place finishes. Kyle ran the fastest single laps all weekend with his Tekin powered Losi Scte proving consistent speed and bullet proof electronics package of the Tekin Rx8 and Pro 4 will put you on the podium!

Tekin Driver Eric Salvas Wins at the USOW Champs!

Eric Salvas lined up 4th in the Late Model 13.5 with his Tekin Powered Custom Works car . The LM class had over 55+ entries. Eric was able to pull out the win over a star studded A main group. In the LM A-main ...all cars were using a Tekin RSpro.

Eric also qual'd 3rd in EDM but had to drive an ill handling car in the main settling for 6th overall.

Both Steve and Eric Salvas rubbed wheel to wheel in the super fast Mod Sprint class that had over 80 entries this year. The Salvas brothers both made the B along with other well respected racers such as Josh Cyrul, Arnie Fie, Jamie Tennies and others. This event was stacked to say the least!

Alan Burton Tq's and wins the 4th Annual Toys 4 Tots in Flowood Mississippi!

This past weekend marked the conclusion of the second annual Toys 4 Tots Shootout at the Flowood R/C Park in Jackson Mississippi. This event doubled in size for this year and had close to 150 entries. The true reason behind the event wast to give the racers a great event to race without worry of weather and to raise toys for children who otherwise may not have a happy Christmas Season. Almost 200 toys were raised and the event was a success. The track is large by indoor standards and had a great layout put in by Marc Beck and crew of the Flowood Facility. It has great dirt and even with cold temps laid down a great running line and provided good traction. The event offered Nitro and Electric classes.

Team Tekin's Alan Burton of Birmingham Alabama attended the event running Modified 2wd buggy and 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy. Alan was able to secure the win in Nitro Buggy, and took TQ honors and the win in the full field of mod 2wd buggies!

Alan Burton: "The facility is amazing, and something to visit! We had a great time making the trip from Birmingham Alabama. My Tekin powered TLR 22 buggy was very good at this track and gave me a lot of confidence to pick some of the faster lines and stay out front. My Tekin system of choice was the Redline 8.5 with the RS Pro ESC. On this combo I run very little timing advance and it's smooth yet offers a lot of torque and speed. The thing I feel like Tekin has the advantage with is the smoothness of the systems, making it put down the power better and lower the lap times!"

This year’s clash was held in Coral Springs, Florida at CSRCCC. The weather did not cooperate all weekend which brought wet and muddy track conditions. Qualifying was scheduled to run four qualifiers, however due to weather it was cut to only two. I ran 3 classes, stock buggy, stock truck, and Pro 2 Stock Short course. I won all my heats in all three classes, but qualifying proved to be how good the track conditions were during your run. After qualifying I was sitting 3^rd in stock buggy and truck, and TQ in Pro 2 Stock. I ended up finishing 5^th in stock buggy, and dnf'd after leading stock truck due to a ball cup snapping, and finished 2^nd in Pro 2 Stock short course after a complete downpour during the main. The mains were 8 minutes and with the muddy conditions I was concerned about the extra weight hurting run times and burning up motors, but I ended up with the same gearing and everything was solid to the very end. The Tekins were powerful and fast all weekend !

Dayton Miller wins Stock Truck at the 2011 Spektrum Race!

Going into the 4th round of qualifying Dayton Miller led Nathan Evans(Dustin Evans brother) by a tie breaker of best combined runs. Dayton bobbled near the end of the 4th round costing him the overall Tq by must 5 hundredths of a second!

Starting 2nd from the grid Dayton followed Nathan for 4-5 laps. Dayton pressured him and forced Nathan into a mistake off a jump and made the pass. From that point forward Dayton built up a 4 second lead and while in the lead also bobbled taking the table top wrong and tumbled requiring a marshal. This allowed Nathan to catch back up and the two raced hard until the finish with Dayton coming out the victor!

Andy Castellini dominates the Turkey Day Race at Family Hobbies Raceway.

Family Hobbies Raceway in Vineland, NJ celebrated Thanksgiving by hosting a Turkey Day Race with real Turkeys and other holiday treats for the winners. With some of top racers from the tri-state area competing for the “Big Birds”, the racing was close, great to watch and a lot of fun for all the participants.

Andy Castellini competed in Electric Eight Buggy and 4x4 Short Course TQ’ing both classes and then going on for the Win and a claim to the Big Birds! Andy relied on Tekin RX8s to handle all the control for his Tekin Pro 4 and T8 motors, and they were a winning combination. The Tekins ran flawless all day, with nothing to do but inspect and clean up after each win!!

In the spirit of the Holiday Season, Andy suggested that his “Turkey” winnings be passed along to benefit others. He gave one away to a fellow racer at the track that day and the other Turkey went to a local needy family through his school. Thanksgiving is a great time of year, and it’s nice to see young people like Tekin Driver Andy Castellini offer up his winnings to spread the Holiday Spirit!

The 6 race series hosted by Carolina RC and held at various race tracks in the region for each event proved to make for a very tight race series. When the points were totaled Tekin pilot Dennis Allison would take the 2wd Open Pro 2 SCT class and the Open 4wd Pro 4 SC class titles! Congratulations Dennis!

Dennis used the RS Pro and Tekin Redline 8.5 motor to power his Pro 2 victory. In his Pro 4 Dennis chose the Rx8 and Pro 4 4600.

The 2011 Utah State Champs hosted by IR-CR Raceway in Magna Utah saw fierce competition in nearly ever class. Raer's from as far asWyoming, Colorado, Idaho were in attendance.

Tekin team driver Tony Newland Tq'd nearly every round(all but one) of 13.5 2wd and 17.5 2wd and won both classes using a RS Pro and Redline 17.5 in both!

Tekin Team driver Jason Smith Tq won Stock Short Course Pro 2, Aaron Eastman took 2nd in Pro 4 followed by Jason Smith in 3rd. Both Aaron and Jason used Rx8 and Pro 4 motors to take these top positions.

David Joor is your RC Pro Series 1/8 E Buggy National Champion! Again!

Mike's Hobbyshop in Houston Texas hosted the 2011 RC Pro Finals with great success. The track and pavilion were extended a few months ago in order to host this event and it definitely paid off.

I would be defending my electric title this year. However, you know how once in a while you just have those races where nothing connects, you break in back to back qualifiers before the buzzer goes, the track feels so good that you just can't help driving like a maniac, and your leading by a large margin with a few laps to go and the car just stops? Yup, that was me at this race. So no matter how hard you try things can still go wrong to the best of us.

I put in a few good runs in electric to get myself into the 3rd qualifying position behind Lutz and Dellinger so I was feeling good about a shot there. Lutz had amazing pace and I could match his average laptimes but he would have 3 or 4 laps that were around a half second faster than his average. So for the mains the RC8.2e was amazing and I had chosen AKA SS Impacts that were almost worn completely down because I had adjusted my setup to remove as much traction as possible. My goal was to get up to Ryan right out the gate and put in my best laps hoping if I could stay in his sights he may make a bobble before he could get into his time warp zone. A1 I had a great start but came up an inch short on the triple right in front of a marshal but another car had wrecked on an earlier jump that had been forgotten so he was trying to yell at another marshal to get him while every car went by. Now in 12th and 13 seconds down from the leader I made it back up to third by 5 minutes in and I was pleased with this because Dellinger was the only one I was in contention for the title with and I had enough lead in points to finish 2 positions overall below him to win. As I get lapped by Lutz, yeah I know! He begins to have some form of issue with his car so I got my embarrassing lap back and start charging to find that Dellinger had lost a rear turnbuckle so with 2 laps to go I take the lead and boy did I need those points and I was glad to take them! In A2 I had a good start and got into second on the first lap but my game plan failed again because Lutz immediately dipped into the 27 second laps but this time our fastest lap were just 3 tenths apart so I was feeling confident I could put pressure on in A3 and finishing 2nd in A2 I had already won the title s o it was all or nothing. A3 I get a great start, move into second on the first lap and hold onto Lutz for the first 3 laps before I wrecked again on the triple losing 10 seconds. From that point I just wanted a 27 second lap and every time I got close I would have to pass someone so I settled with 28.0 again!

Jeremy "PG" Potter Dominates the 11th Annual Mapston Memorial!

Held in Spokane Washington the 11th Annual Dave Mapston Memorial race was held October 21-23rd.

In 1/8 Buggy Jeremy Potter would dominate Rd1 qualifying by over 18 seconds. Rd 2 was no different other than he managed a 24 second gap with his Tekin Powered Hotbodies Ve8! Jeremy would sit out Rd3 and focus on the triple A mains. While leading in A1 Jeremy suffered a mechanical (skid plate) he would come back with a vengeance in Rd 2 taking the overall win by lapping all the way up to 2nd place. In A3 Jeremy would again put down lap times that would allow him to lap up to 5th to take the overall win. Team Tekin would power the Top 8 in e-buggy with Rx8's and T8 motors.

"This was the largest class of the event with 23 entries. Starting 5th in the A I decided I was going to make a hard push to the front early so the leaders didn't get away early. This played out well for me, after the second lap I had takin the lead and started stretching the gap. I would continue on uncontested and lapping the entire 12 truck field, except 2nd and 3rd which were 9 and 20 seconds back! Jubal " I was confident in my Tekin Pro4 powered Nexx 10 as long as I drove smart. That's exactly what I did. Early into the 10 min main there were several lead changes between myself, and a few others. After a few laps we settled in and my Ofna teammate, Brian Bourland, had the lead. I worked my way up to his bumper and when he opened the door I slid by for the lead. This is the way it would stay. Two Ofna Nexx 10's with Tekin horsepower and AKA rubber going 1-2!

Ryan Lutz touches base with his race report fromNorth Carolina Series Finals @ the Badlands in Myrtle Beach South Carolina.

4wd SC Open – Ran my Tekin Pro 4 powered Durango DESC410R for the first time in at least a month and it just felt like I hadn’t taken the time off with it at all. It was flying around this track and the on-lookers were amazed at the speed of the Tekin equipped Durango. In the first qualifier they had the minimum lap set at 33 seconds and for some reason they were never mentioning my name during the race even as I was passing everyone. Come back to see the race results and every one of my laps that did count was a 62. So I was getting 31 second lap times at least! In the second round when the bite came up I was able to get down into the 29 second lap times on occasion which was just about 1.5 seconds off my Nitro and E-Buggy! I was able to TQ all 3 rounds. In the A-main they were running it for 10 minutes! I’m lucky to make 7:30 with my car if i’m really driving it so I was a bit leery of trying to make 10. I ran the race trying never to pull past 1/4 throttle. Down the straight I let off the gas completely 1/2 way down and just let it cost the rest of the way. (Good thing my Tekin Pro 4 was fast enough to already be flying at that point!) I drove it easy and was able to finish the full 10 minutes and win by a couple laps on the field of 15.

E-Scale Buggy – My Tekin powered Durango DEX408 prototype was loving this track. Everyone kept stopping by my pit area to ask me if they could look at it but unfortunately i’m still having to keep it under wraps. Hopefully it will be out soon because I know there is a lot of interest in this vehicle, and rightfully so! In Qualifying I was able to take the first two rounds to take the overall TQ for the class. In the main I ran back to back SC and E-Buggy. I didn’t do any practice laps in E-Buggy because I was going to change tires really quick before the main but realized quickly that I didn’t have what I thought I had and thus I just left on the tires I had ran all day. So the first couple laps I struggled trying to find my E-Buggy finger having just babied around the SC truck for 10 minutes. I fell into a battle with the top 3 and we battled for the first couple laps until I got by and they both made a mistake on the back right jump section and I never looked back. I began extending my lead and I think by the end of the 10 minute main I had put a lap on the field! Another win for the Prototype Tekin Powered Durango DEX408!

Joor TQ's & Wins RC Pro US 16 Electric, Furthers Points Lead For Finals

The RC Pro US Series 16 took place 9/23 in Harlingen Texas and this race was turning out to be quite crucial for David Joor. David wanted to continue his points lead to defend his RCP Electric National Title. Two years ago when David got into electric 8th scale he won the RCP Finals and in 2010 took home the RCP Electric National Title. The points setup has changed this year which meanstso David was leading the points with Mitchel Gardner in 2nd (whom was fierce competition @ last years Finals) and Jake Dillinger. So I grabbed my Associated 8.2's and took the venture down south. David took TQ in electric by winning each round but Dillinger didn't make this easy.

David took the 1st electric main but Dillinger made a charge back in the second main to take the win so it was all up to the 3rd main. In the third main David lost control of the car in the most difficult section of the track that and went over the pipe and had a head on collision with 4th place! Getting back on the other side he continued to follow Dillinger for 2 laps literally a foot or two behind in each corner trying to make him crack and right when David began to think he wasn't going to he traction rolled in the sweeper and cartwheeled off the track. So David went on to win the 3rd main and this has given me maximum points of 218 going into the finals because he TQ'd, lead most laps, and won two RCP events. Dillinger and Gardner are now tied for second with 210.

Derek Stephansen wins big at the Race for a Cure at Modesto RC Raceway!

This past Saturday Derek and other Tekin team drivers participated in the Race For A Cure at Modesto RC Raceway which brought in a 148 total entries. After 2 rounds of qualifying Tekin Powered Phillip Atondo(TLR) would take Tq in 2wd Mod buggy, Derek 2nd. Derek Stephansen would take TQ honors in 4wd Mod Buggy.

2wd Buggy A1 Phillip and Derek would start battling for the first minute or so intill Phillip bobbled allowing Derek to get out front and slowly build up a slight lead. In the closing minute Derek would bobble while out front allowing Eddie Bernal to take A1. A2 would have Derek out front early taking the win in A2. A3 was probaly one of the most intense battles of the night with the front runners all batlling for the lead. Derek would bobble over the demanding quad allowing Johnathan Hernandez and Eddie Bernal to get by. Derek would chase down Eddie quickly.The leaders battled out nose to tail for the next four minutes. A3 would end with Johnathan in 1st, Eddie second, and Derek in third. Derek Stephansen would end up winning 2wd mod Buggy with the tie breaker over Eddie Bernal!

In Mod 2wd SCT Derek Stephansen would start from the fifth spot in A1 and would quickly work his way up to second behind TQ Eddie Bernal and would finish there. In A2 Derek would be able to get out early from the start and hold on over a hard charging James Arluck to take the win in A2. A3 would once again be a battle between Derek and Eddie Bernal once again going at it, with both bobbles and recoveries from both. As time expired Derek would win giving him the overall Mod 2wd SCT title!

In 4wd buggy Derek would make several mistakes in A1 allowing Cody and Jason Smith to get by, dropping him to 3rd. Derek had better luck in A2 checking out from pole to take the win. A3 Derek would once again check out but a minute in he would have mechanical issue pulling out of the race and giving Austin Blair the win for A3. Overall Derek would end up 3rd in this class.

Salvas Brothers win at the Lord of Late Model race in Illinois!

The two day two race event where points determined the Lord of Late Models! The first event held at Maryville Steve Salvas took 1st while Eric Salvas got 3rd. The next day at Allens RC Steve Salvas would take 2nd while Eric would once again take 3rd. After all of the points were totaled Steve Salvas would take the overall win! Brother and fellow Tekin/Cutom Works teammate Eric Savlas would take 2nd!

The late model class a new 4wd class was 13.5 open. The Tekin Rs's was the esc of choice for all!!!

2011 Utah Outdoor state champs hosted at Black Sheep Rc raceway in Spanish Fork Utah. Tekin Team Driver Jason Smith TQ and takes 1st in the 1/8 buggy Electric Buggy using his Tekin Powered Rc8e. Jason used the Rx8 and T8 1700. Jason Smith wasn't done. Jason also Tq'd the Pro 2 SC class with his Tekin Powered Factory Team SC10. Jason chose the Rs pro and a Redline 8.5.

Aaron Eastman TQ'd and wins in Pro4 SC class with his Tekin Powered Losi Scte. Aaron chose the Rx8 and 5.5 Sc4x.

Mike Barrett wins at the 10th annual Race Against Cancer !

Hosted by McCullough's Off Road in Sarver Pa the event had over 170 entries and raised over $12,000 dollars for American Cancer Society. The race pulled racers from Ohio, New York, and Virginia setting record for both entries and donation dollars!

Mike's recap:

"We had a few downpours throughout the weekend which made for a high traction surface. There were 4 rounds of rocket round qualifying on Saturday. I was able to TQ the first round which held up until the last round. I started 2nd on the grid on Sunday for the main. The A-main was 10 minutes long. The lead positions swapped multiple times between the top 4 guys. At around the 8 minute mark I was able to take the lead for the final time for the win. I was using the Tekin RS/9.5 system in my TQ Racing SC truck."

Carson Wernimont Dominates Rd7 of the JBRL at OCRC

Carson knew he had work to do after getting a 5th in the first round of Qualifying. Carson made some set up changes to his Tekin powered DESC410 and I came out of the gate swinging for the second round of qualifying clinching the TQ by a few seconds over second place, Aaron Lane. In the main Carson started first on the grid and never looked back, cruising to the finish with a 3 second lead over second, and quite a bit ahead of the battle for third.

In 4WD Buggy Carsons Tekin powered DEX410 was great all weekend. In the first qualifier i had a few bobbles at the end set me back in the 4th position for the first round. In round two I made some adjustments to my car and was able to land my DEX410 on the second spot on the grid behind local hero Steven Heartson. In the main Carson got off to a good start and was able to break away from the field with Steven but at the end Steven was half a lap ahead, so Carson had to just settle for a respectable 2nd place finish.

Michael Malott wraps up the Local Joe race series!

The Local Joe series was a 6 race format that consisted of 2 different tracks, Reo Raceway in Rockport, IN and SRI Raceway in Louisville, KY. Mike Malott came into the final round with a slight lead after the throw outs. Mike had missed the last couple of rounds. It was now or never to take down the title.

Mike had qualified 2nd for the A main after 3 rounds. Mike knew he had to finish 6th or better to take the title going into the main. After the tone Mike had gotten a chance to settle into 2nd place. He managed to case a jump that caused his switch to shut off. Lucky for him a good marshall got him back on and onto the track a lap down. Mike but on a charge getting back onto the lad lap and with a minute to go managed to be back up to 4th position. This is where Mike would finish and wrap up his Local Joe Series 1/8 E buggy title.

Mike had this to say "I couldn't have done this without all of my sponsors helping me out and giving me the opportunity to run the best products in the industry. My OFNA/BCE Hyper 9e was solid all year and I never had one breakage or failure in all 4 races. My Tekin equipment and AKA tires were also flawless the whole series and gave me the power and grip I needed throughout the summer to get the solid finishes I had this year. The PT RC oils were so smooth and consistent all summer in the heat and in the cool I knew I had no worries of the shocks or diffs fading under either conditions. "

Mike Applegate wins big at the Short Course Kings Race!

Tekin team driver Mike Applegate wins the 13.5 Super Stock 2wd SC class at last weekends Short Course Kings race hosted in Ocala Florida. 86 entries with Mike taking Tq and the overall win. Mike held his composure throughout the entire 6 minute main fending off Billy Bruce half way through. Mike was using a Tekin Redline 13.5 and Tekin RS esc.

Ryan Lutz takes 4th at the 2011 ROAR Electric 1/8 Nats

Ryan Lutz takes 4th overall with his Tekin powered Dex408 prototype buggy. Ryan's recap :

"Main day has came and went and all that there is left to show for it is the results. Lets get down to business.

In A1 I had a decent start and got up to 5th from my 8th starting position. I got into ‘no mans land’ as I call it where the top 4 had a good lead on me and the rest of the pack were a few seconds behind me. I took it easy for most of the main but on the last couple laps I made some mistakes and allowed Truhe to catch up and pass me on the last lap and so I settled for 6th.

In A2 I got an even better start and worked my way up to 4th. I was staying as clean as possible and was able to overtake Cavalieri for 3rd and I held the position until the last lap. On the last lap Truhe once again caught me and passed me with 1/2 a lap to go. I stayed glued to the back of him though and over the left side double he got a little short and went out wide and we both went over the single onto the straight away together but his car rocked a bit and I pulled just barely ahead and in the sweeper at the end before the finish line he got right on my rear end and basically pushed me across the line. So I was able to take 3rd in A2.

In A3 I knew I had a legit shot at Podium. I had an okay start and after a few laps was up to 5th. I worked my way up behind Cavalieri and I knew if I could beat him I could get 3rd overall. We battled close for a few minutes with me having a couple chances but always getting up on 2 wheels or a hard landing or something keeping me just behind. With one lap to go though I was on his bumper and we landed the coming at you double side by side but my car hit the rut that had developed over the weekend and rolled over. This allowed Cav to get away and King to pass me as well. I finished up and took a 5th for the round. Overall this put me 4th place! Not bad for a prototype buggy on my first big race with it! Overall I was pretty pleased with the final result and look forward to more running in the E-Scale class!"

Mike Malott wins the 2nd annual Labor Day Shootout at Indy RC and Hobbies

"I was ready to go for the e buggy class. I knew a few new guys had made the switch from Nitro to electric and had gotten really fast the the 1/8 buggy class was going to be a fast and hard class to win. I ran a couple packs in practice to get ready for the quals. My car was good right from the get go so I just left it alone. The first qual started really well and I was flying and on a TQ pace when it all started to go south. I got into traffic and started making a lot of mistakes and that drooped me down off of TQ pace. I ended up 3rd for the round so I was pretty happy with that. The 2nd round of quals started and after the shuffle I was in the A qualifier. The qual started off bad and right from the start i was making stupid mistakes again and was having some troubles. I got the car rolling mid way through the qual and was clicking off fast laps and making up a lot of time but it was to late for the qual. I ended up 4th for the round and that is where I would start on the grid for the final. The A main got off to a good start and everybody was able to get away clean. Fellow OFNA team driver Brian Bourland had jumped out to an early lead and I had settled into 2nd. Bourland was setting a fast pace and I was pushing really hard to catch up to him. I was making up a little time and he got into traffic and had a few issues and made a few mistakes to let me catch up. I finally got to him and ran right behind him for about 4 laps putting pressure on him hoping he would make a mistake. In one section of tha track I was a li ttle faster then he was and I put a lot of pressure on him and he let me go. I got to the lead and he stayed right with me pacing me the whole way. We got to lap traffic once again and I was able to get through it clean but Bourland got hung up with a lapper and that gave me the advantage I needed to pull away and take the win. I was super pumped with the results after being off the pace in quals and coming back and winning the A main." Mike Malott

Tekin Powers Mugen Mafia to a 5 Hour Enduro Race Win at River Race Track

7 teams competed in this 5 hour enduro event. Both Nitro and Electric 1/8 Buggies competing for the overall title head to head. The teams included Team Vertigo, Z-Mat, River, Team Sandbag, High Voltage, and Mugen Mafia.

Half way through the race the top three teams were all on the same lap "Mugen Mafia", "High Voltage" and Team "Vertigo". The race between the top 3 teams jockeyed back and forth for the whole race as each team had break downs of some sort that changed the lead and had all thinking one team had it in the bag before something broke and they dropped down to 3rd or 4th place. Break downs from snapped A-arms, flame outs, diff failures, and various other mechanical failures plagued every team.

One of the highlights of excitement happened when team "Mugen Mafia" held the lead with only 10minutes left in the race and 2nd place team "High Voltage" running in 2nd place 18 laps behind. Thinking they had a comfortable lead the "Mafias" rear diff case melted and the rear drive shaft came out while running 2 laps in front wheel drive only until the car stopped dead! With 30sec lap times 10mins meant 2nd place could pull 20 laps and take the win from 18 laps behind. But, thanks to a back up car that was sitting in sections in the pit, the "Mafia" made a 4min rear end swap to get back on the track and take the overall win!

1st Place went to the "Mugen Mafia" team. Their Tekin powered Mugen Mbx6 Eco was piloted by drivers Ty Mills, Willy Mills, Ryan Mosley and Team Captain Jason Wipf. The team chose a tried and proven T8 1900 Rx8(TT2312) combo as their power plant.

2nd was "High Voltage" which included Jake Dellinger, Courtney Vaughn, Rusty Purifoy and Brian Stanford. They also ran a Mugen MBX6 Eco.

3rd "Team Sandbag" included Jason Branham, Brian Branham, Ruben Samuel and Grayson Witt. The team ran a Nitro powered Hot Bodies D8 Buggy.

Andy Castellini wins the 25th Annual Eastern State Champs at Family Hobbies

Team Tekin driver Andy Castellini had a great time at the Prestigious 25thRunning of the Eastern States, co-sponsored by Team Tekin at Family Hobbies Raceway in Vineland, NJ. Racing six classes in a two day period, and doing well in each class was a challenge, but Andy was up for the task. He qualified all six entries in the top three of each class and was the TOP QUALIFIER in the well represented Eighth Scale Electric and Nitro Buggy Classes, taking a convincing win in Electric Eight! Castellini's 2 wheel buggy and short course were powered by Tekin's RS-Pro and Tekin Red Line Motors and his SC 4x4 was powered by the Tekin's RX8 and the 4.5 SC Motor. Tekin's consistent delivery and trouble free running allowed Andy to concentrate on set-ups and driving; but reliability was a necessity for the next day.

On day two, Tekin's dependability was heavily counted upon, especially when the other classes that day were nitro buggy and Truggy, and they demand a lot of attention. Not only did the RX8 and his Tekin 1700 motor come through with super dependability, they were untouchable in the heats and Andy was the Top Qualifier in Electric Eight. He then out paced a field of the Mid-East's best drivers in the A-Main lapping almost the entire field! Tekin's power, response and dependability was once again flawless...and thanks Tekin's trouble free operations, the extra time allowed for a Top Qualifier in Nitro as well....

Derek Stephansen wraps up the RC Night Series at Modesto RC Raceway

"Main time came and I knew my two cars were solid enough to pull off the wins. First up was the buggy main and I would check out with my buggy powered by the RS/ Redline 13.5 combo to take the win over second by a lap with Brian Curran in 2nd and Mike Clark finishing 3rd. In Open SCT I would 2nd with my SCT powered with the RS Pro/ Redline 8.5 motor. I would follow for a good 2 minutes of the race on the tail of Jason Smith's Kyosho SCR, with my dad attacking me from behind. I would finally put the inside pass on Jason leaving him and my dad to battle it out will I said, "See ya later". In the end I would take the win with Jason Smith second and my dad Greg Stephansen 3rd."

Ryan Lutz Tq's and wins the 2011 Labor Day Shootout with his Tekin Powered Durango rides!

4wd SC Mod – I had my Tekin powered DESC410R rockin around this 1/8th scale track and as always my goal was to beat my 1/8th Buggy times. My SC truck was still equipped with the Tekin 4.5 Sc4x system that I had ran at the Nationals and it was plenty of power to get around the track. I was able to get my lap times within a second of my 1/8th buggy! My overall time in my qualifiers would have put me top 5 in the expert buggy A-main! Come main time I started from the pole position and just took off. Extending my lead during the 7 minute race to take a little over a lap victory on the rest of the field.

Keeping the Tekin powered Durango DEX408 prototype hidden from the public proved to be a bit harder this weekend. People wanted to check it out but I was ordered to keep the body on it so that is what I did! I didn’t do any set-up changes from what I ran the week prior in St. Louis and the car still handled very well. I was able to eek out the overall TQ over Atondo and I knew we were set for a good battle in the main. Starting from the pole I did a conservative first section and Philip was all over me. Coming before the gap jump he got all up on top of me and both of us flipped into the adjacent lane. We went down it backwards and turned around and I had the better end of it so I waited for him and let a car or two go by. On the second lap on the tricky left hand section I think Philip cased it a bit and popped out a center driveshaft ending his race chance. It was a bummer because I was looking forward to a 10 minute battle. However I just put my head down and got back up to the lead and set out on a clean run. I ended up lapping the field and giving my prototype DEX408 it’s second victory in as many weeks! I have my work cut out for me next week though as I’m heading to the electric 1/8th nationals. It’s going to take everything i’ve got to continue that winning streak! . . I’m up for the challenge

"Well I had a great weekend at the Surf City. I won Pro-2 SC. Started 2nd on the grid. After a few bobbles to start the race I put enough pressure on the leader to take over thelead and never looked back. The Tekin Powered XXX-SCT was awesome.The Tekin power was too much for the field and I got the win.

Pro-4 SC:

"I struggled in qualifying trying to run slicks and it just made the truck too hard to drive. As a result I ended up having to start 6th on the grid. In warm up practice on main day I switched to treaded tires and truck was much easier to drive. After a few hang ups with traffic to start the race I was able to run up to 3rd spot and hang there until the leader broke and was able to then move up to second. I was running on pace with the new leader but my starting position ended up being the difference at the end and I had to settle for 2nd only about 4 second back. The new Pro-4 4600 motor really performed well and gave me all the power I could ask for but also had the control I needed to get round the tricky parts of the track." Doug Casper Nielisen

Tekin Tq's and dominates the ROAR Region 11 Regional Championship took place this past weekend in Spokane, WA

"The race was a 1/8 only event so I entered in just the 1/8 E-Buggy class with my Hot Bodies Ve8 and Tekin RX8 and T8 1900 KV Motor. There were drivers from all over the Northwest and Canada
gunning for the win. The track flowed very well and had some very tricky sections that . Through out qualifying I was still trying to get a grip on the track but I still managed to TQ a round and ended up 2nd on the grid for the triple A-Mains. In A1 I was able to get into the lead early and pulled a 12 second lead just over the halfway mark when a mechanical issue hit me and I was forced to retire. In A2 once again I jumped out front early on and ran away with the race, taking the win and setting up a showdown between me and the TQ who won A1. I was able to take the lead early in A3 but I made a few un-timely errors and fell back abit. I was able to reel the leader back in abit but just didn't have enough and had to settle for 2nd place and 2nd overall. My Tekin equipment ran great all weekend long in the 90+ degree weather and Tekin was able to sweep the podium in dominating fashion!" Jeremy Potter

" In Pro Ebuggy, my first two qualifiers left me sitting 3rd and a little off pace. After some adjustments I bettered my time by more than 20 secs which still left me Q3 but back up to speed with TQ Brian Seitz (Mugen ECO), Q2 Brian Bourland (Hyper 9e) and Q4 was Dan Rennekamp (Nexx8). At the tone to start the main, I found myself upside down in the third corner and watched the entire field drive by. Not a good start to say the least but 10 minutes is a long time so I just got back going and settled into my pace. Not but just a few laps in I was really clicking off some super fast laps and had quickly reeled in the leader, Bourland, and took over the top spot. I built a comfortable lead and was able to close out the deal with my fellow Ofna teammate Brian Bourland in second. This win felt pretty good considering I was a full lap off pace in the beginning of the day and was able to make the right car and driver adjustments to pull this off. " Jubal

Norcal Hobbies hosted the 2011 Annual Offroad Kings race as a nationals warm up event. The event went off without a hitch and proved to have some great racing battles.

Phil Atondo took his Tekin powered Losi Ten Scte to the overall Tq in the Pro 4 SCT class. Phil went out to easily take A1 and A2 by nearly a lap each round! Proving once again the Pro 4 is in a class of it's own!

Jacob Haas having just signed with Tekin days prior to the event took his Tekin powered TLR 22 to a Tq and overall win in the Open 2wd Mod buggy class. Jacob used a Tekin RS Pro and 10.5 Redline to take the win. Shon Wilcox taking 2nd overall with his Tekin powered TLR 22 as well. Great racing guys!

"In 4wd Pro Mod Short Course all eyes were on my DESC410R. This thing is just stupid fast and has so much get up and go. For one the truck is simply the fastest truck in this class and everyone is beginning to realize this. Also I was again running my Tekin RX8 Speedo with the new 4 pole motor and it just flat out flies. People were amazed at the speed this thing has especially being a 540 can. I was able to throw down a 28.6 with my SC truck and my best lap in buggy was a 27.4! I was able to dominate qualifying to the tune of an 18 second TQ. In the main the guys behind me battled it out and I took off to a 1.5 lap win in 7 minutes. I let a handfull of people try my truck during the weekend and they were all amazed at it’s performance. They also couldn’t believe how smooth and fast the new 4 pole Tekin motor is. All of them before the race were running various makes and models of other SC trucks. After this race they are all getting a Durango with the new Tekin 4 pole when it becomes available shortly. I know they will be pleased! " Ryan Lutz

Andrew Mowery takes the MN Electric OffRoad State Championship

"Definatly the fastest and a pin , grin hold on to win class.. Had great runs in quals and TQ'd.. Started the main at the front, 2nd and third looked like they were going to hang tight but fumbled early..Joe Jr held close for a good third of the race then stumbled letting me breath a bit and take care of the car resulting in a very nice win. All mains are 9 minutes, no issues with motor or speedo heat. pure smooth power when needed with incredible reliability." Andrew Mowery

Tekin cleans house at the 2011 Westside Challenge III NCT round 3

Dave Gullickson would take the Tq and overall win in the Stock Truck division using a Tekin RS Pro and Redline 17.5 motor. Dave would get out to the lead and never look back taking A1 and A2.

Dave would also Tq mod truck with the same RS Pro 17.5 Redline combination. His luck however would only last him through A1 taking the win. A2 he would DNF due to a mechanical finishing in last place. A3 Dave would again have an issue 1 1/2 minutes in while getting marshalled his sensor harness would fail. Normally this would be a DNF but because he's using Tekin he continued to motor on taking 2nd place in A3 and 2nd place overall.

Jesse Munn piloted his Tekin powered Venom Gambler to an overall win by taking the first to A mains. Jesse would also take 2nd place overall in 2wd Mod Buggy.

Tekin takes the Region 4 offroad titles at Coral Springs RC Raceway!

The 2011 ROAR Region 4 Championship were hosted at the Coral Springs RC Car Club. The event had over 170+ entries and was shaping up to be an event not to miss. Rain! Rain would poor down from the sky and would appear to destroy the track. But this would not deter the Coral Springs track crew! A few hours of track maintenance using some saw dust and they were racing! Great job track crew!

Tekin team driver Mike Applegate would Tq and take the Region 4 stock truck title using a Tekin RS and Redline 17.5 motor. Mike caused quite a stir with this winning combination hearing often in the pits "That can't be a 17.5." Congratulations Mike!

Stock buggy would be dominated by young Jason Venezia. He would pilot his Tekin powered B4 to the overall Tq and win in the Region 4 stock buggy championship. Mike Applegate would finish right behind in in 2nd place. Congratulations Jason and Mike. Keep an eye on young Jason at only 9 years old he's starting to put together a nice string of victories....

Tekin drivers take the hardware at the 2011 Hot Rod Shootout!

Tekin drivers were out in force at the 2011 Hot Rod Shootout hosted as always by Jimmy Babcock and the crew at Hot Rod Hobbies. With over 270 entries this race had great attendance by many top pro drivers even though worlds are next week. As always Jimmy and crew held one of the premier events of the year.

Pro 4 Short Course was dominated by Tekin in qualifying with Tekin powered TLR factory pilot Frank Root taking the overall Tq in the class. Team Durango's Billy Fischer would take A1, Tekin driver Ryan Lutz would take A2 by over 10 seconds in his Tekin powered Desc410r, A3 would have Fischer taking down the win with Lutz 2nd and Travis Amezcua 3rd. Ryan Lutz would take 2nd overall. Great Job Ryan. Ryan was using the new Tekin Pro 4 motor which was sited by all who witnessed it to be the "fastest truck on the track."

Sportsman Pro 4 Short course was dominated by Tekin driver Aaron Eastman with his Tekin powered SC104x4 taking the overall Tq and win. Aaron used the 4.5 Sc4x and Rx8 esc. 11 year old David Jenson would also take 2nd palce using Tekin.

Modified 4wd buggy was one of the most exciting classes to watch with many of the top pro drivers in attendance. Ryan Cavalieri would take the overall Tq. In A1 the "pass of the weekend" would be pulled off by Tekin factory driver Ryan Lutz with his Tekin powered Dex410. In the last corner of the last lap Lutz had pulled to within a car length of Cavalieri and over the last double jumped over him into the last corner to take the win at the line! Cav woudl take A2 from top to bottom. It was still anyone's race going into A3. Some exciting racing and mistakes would mix up the lead a few times with Cav taking the overall win, Ryan Lutz would finish 2nd overall with A-main Hobbies pilot Tyler Vik taking 3rd.

Saturday Night was Rnd 2 of the Rc Night Series. There was a total 54 entries for the night I knew that it was time to get the job done with my Tekin Powered B4 and SC10. In qualifying I would go to TQ early on in both Open SCT and 2wd Buggy. I knew my SCT time was solid and good enough to most likely keep TQ but I knew but I knew my buggy time was at risk. In round 2 of qualifying for the night my TQ in buggy would beat by local Jason Smith running his 22 putting my TQ to rest by 10 second. I would closely follow 4 seconds behind after several mistakes. The last round of qualifying I attacked hard in buggy going 13 in 6:00 to take TQ and my SCT time would end up holding from the first round in qualifying.

Main times came and I was on pole for both SCT and Buggy. I knew that I had to keep solid runs together to come out solid for the night. First off was buggy and I would check out with my Tekin Powered 13.5 buggy to lead wire to wire with no mistakes and lapping the entire field with Jason Smith finishing in 2nd with Tekin power and my dad Greg Stephansen 3rd running Tekin Power as well.

Short Course Truck would end up being about the same as the buggy main, with myself checking out early on and never looking back with my Tekin Powered 10.5 SC10. I would lap most of the field besides second place who was my dad Greg Stephansen finishing second with Tekin power and local Mike Clark finishing 3rd with Tekin Power as well.

After the 2nd race of the series I lead both classes in poi nts by 6 so far after TQing and winning both classes in round 1 of the Rc Night Series as well. All in all it was great night. "Derek Stephansen

Part #2 of the Jconcepts Summer Indoor Nats wrap up.

Mod 2wd Buggy had an Amain heat stacked with top pro drivers. Tekin team driver Lloyd Dassonville would sit 7th with his Tekin powered Tq racing car. After local hot shot Tyler Vik made his way to the front the buzzer would sound with Lloyd sitting 5th overall.

17.5 NR 2wd Buggy was filled with some of the fastest local stock buggy drivers in the region. Ej Evans a local Onroad TOP driver was in attendance running his 2nd ever large offroad race using a Tekin powered B4. Clinty Riley would bump into the A using his Tekin powered Losi 22. Once the tone sounded it was fast racing for 10 minutes. Ej would end up 4th overall, Clint would improve his 9th starting grid position to finisish 7th.

2011 Jconcepts Summer Indoor Nats part 1 Recap by Randy Pike

Wow, back from yet another great event hosted by the Outback Raceway up in Chico, Ca. Over the 4th of July weekend the Jconcepts Summer Indoor Nationals would be held. Over 160+ race entries in all of the top classes would make for some great indoor racing around.

I didn't make it to open practice until lunch time or so. This would be more than fine since the track would change over the course of the next few hours. The track was to be ran without watering which meant we would be on smoothies by the time qualifying would happen. Sure enough by the end of practice smoothies were good for a few tenths of a second. My personal cars seemed to be working quite well since I was familiar with the track already. This allowed me to focus on the team drivers like Ryan Lutz, Phil Atondo, Lloyd Dassonville, and others. The team did have my back though hooking me up with a fine refreshing beverage!

Qualifying was going pretty well for the Tekin team with Ryan Lutz setting overall Tq with his Pro 4 powered Desc410r to Tq runs in Rds 1 2 3 and 4 posting a run nearly 2 laps faster than 2nd place(Jason Ruona). Team driver Jason "Mo" Moberly would be sitting 3rd overall. The main would be hectic for the first few laps with the top guys all muscling for position. Ryan would run out in the lead from start to finish. Jason Moberly would have his hands full with "Hopper" and myself(sorry Mo!). In the end we all sorted it out. The race clock ended with Ryan Lutz taking the overall win an entire lap ahead of the field, Jason Moberly 4th, Randy Pike 5th.

Open 2wd Truck would have Philip Atondo setting the overall Tq with his Tekin powered Losi XXXTcr truck. Yours truly would be sitting 5th on the grid. Philip dropped out with a mechanical after lap one allowing the others to take over the positions. In the end I would end up 4th with my Tekin powered Losi XXXTcr truck.

4wd Mod would have top pro drivers up from Socal looking to battle with the top fast locals which included Tekin drivers Lloyd Dassonville and Ryan Lutz. Ryan would be sitting 6th overall which was great since we struggled to find an electrical gremlin in his car all through qualifying. Lloyd was 9th fastest. The mains were filled with so much action I can't recall all of it. I hope someone got this on video! In the last few minutes Ryan would be up to 2nd place looking for a place to pass or a mistake to be made by Josh Numan. During this Ryan would loose a motor wire connection in the last 30 seconds ending his charge to the front. This was Ryan's first time running for 10 minutes in his Dex410 buggy in competition. Lloyd would also fall to a mechanical issue around lap 21. Look for more of Ryan and his Tekin powered Team Durango Dex410 this week at the Hot Rod Shootout!

Tekin Dominates at the 2011 AMS Shootout 2.0!

The 2011 Alabama Manufacturer's Shootout 2.0 was again hosted in Cullman, Al. Tekin team driver Alan Burton was our host for this event. Once again it proved to be a race not to be missed. Top pro drivers from all over the world came to compete against each other in both electric and nitro classes.

Ryan Lutz would prove to be the fastest driver in Pro 4 SCT during practice posting lap times nearly 3 seconds faster than others in the class. Ryan's Tekin Pro 4 powered Desc410r was simply on fire. Fellow teammates Bobby Gately and Randy Pike would also be near the top spots during practice. Qualifying would be a slightly different as Ryan would have a few electrical issues that turned out to be a bad connection at the battery. Team manager Randy Pike would take Tq honors with his Tekin Sc4x powered Desc410r. Bobby Gately would take the 3rd position with his BCE/Losi Ten SCTe ride also sporting a Tekin Pro 4 motor.

Team driver Bobby Gately would go on to take Tq honors with his Tekin powered Hot Bodies D8Te truggy in the E Truggy class. Bobby would struggle with the "Tq blues" having to fight through some inconsistent track areas along with his fellow racers finding some speed to catch him. Fellow teammate Martin Harrison though would throw down with his Tekin powered Losi truggy taking the overall win! Steve Antill would take the 2nd position with his Tekin powered RC8Te, Nathan Harrison would take 3rd with his Tekin Powered Losi 8Te.

Tekin power takes Tq and Victory at Rd 4 of the JRBL Electric Series!

Tekin Sc4x powered Aaron Lane took home a solid win at the recent fourth round of the 2011 JBRLseries hosted at Racer’s Haven Bakersfield/CA. Aaron Lane rocketed to TQ, with Doug Nielsen also Tekin powered in 2nd and Ryan Dunford in 3rd. All 3 drivers were piloting the Losi Ten Scte. Throughout the race, the 3 Ten-SCTEs had a very close battle. Ryan had a few bobbles and dropped back, but made a hard charge to pass Casper for 2nd, and even got close to Lane for the lead. Lane responded with quick laps to take the win. Dunford finished 2nd and Nielsen in 3rd made this an all-Losi podium. (source TLR)

Kevin Gahan would take to TQ spot with the only 19 lap run in qualifying with his TLR 22 powered by Tekin electronics. His teammate Casper would round out the top five. Kevin with his front row start for the 6 min A-main would lead from start to finish with his TLR 22 powered by Tekin electronics. The Red BK-bar rear tires and silver taper-pin fronts were hooked up all weekend.

Greg Bentley takes the win in his Tekin Powered Pro Stock car!

Over the weekend of June 9-12 2011 the IMDRA East Coast Nationals were held at Rockingham, NC. Greg received his 2010 National Points Championship award for Electric T/F Funny Car. Greg went on to win the electric Pro Stock class with a 1.595 ET @ 85mph. He also was able to get runner up in the Electric T/F Funny Car class with an ET of 1.47 @ 92 mph. Greg was running RS-Pros in both cars with Todd Putnam Motors.

Norcal Hobbies one of the premier facilities on the west coast boasting both a permanent paved on road track recently hosting the Reedy Race of Champions is also well known for it's two world class outdoor offroad tracks. Located in Union City, Ca. Norcal will also be hosting this years 1/10 ROAR Electric Nationals. TLR Racing would send no less than Dustin Evans, Frank Root, Cody Turner and other factory drivers to attend the 2011 Norcal Offroad Champs sighting great testing prior to the ROAR nats.

Held over the weekend of June 11th the Norcal Offroad Champs would have a class for everyone. EJ Evans notably from TOP Racing would debut his offroad skills in the 2wd 17.5 NR(non ramping) class taking the overall Tq and win using a Tekin RS Pro. Finally Tekin team driver and Norcal Hobbies very own Kevin Jelich would go onto win the 1/8 E Buggy class. The track is "epic" to say the least boasting HUGE jumps and a very challenging surface. Kevin had great battles with Jesse Stark who won A1, Kevin taking A2 and A3 to secure the win with his Tekin Powered AE RC8b.

Our Charity Food Race on April 29th was a great success, we raised $1,644.00 for the Alger Food Bank and a Half an F150 truck load of food. Amy Berryman who has run the Food Bank for 28+ years was so shocked at the amount we raised and sos happy she actually cried. Two radio stations running announcements about the race. We also had two newspapers to do a to cover a race recap of the event, one was the Skagit Valley Herald and the other a small free paper associated with the Herald called the Argus. Between the two we reached 10's if not hundreds of thousands of people.We did a great job bringing awareness to the foodbank and to the club.

"This past weekend was the Golden State Electric Champs held at Racers Haven in Bakersfield, Ca. I raced Mod 4wd and 2wd. The class with most entrys was stock buggy, which was awesome to see due to the amount of shortcourse trucks out now. The event was held on Saturday only, with three rounds of qualifying and single A mains all done on the same day, it was a late one. Both my cars were great all day taking all three rounds in 4wd which gave me the confidence I needed to go and take the main event also! 2wd was a bit of a different story, Cody Turner and I had good battles all day, I took Q1 and Q2, but Cody got overall TQ with his Q3 win. The main was a ton of fun with some great racing between the two of us, Cody lead the first half till a small mistake letting me get around and hold him off till the end. Held in Pasco, WA on June 4^th the Northwest Short Course Nationals event had over 150 total entries. I competed in the Mod 2wd class which had 45 entries itself.

I qualified 2^nd overall in the 3 round qualifying format, narrowly missing TQ by 7 tenths of a second. I did TQ the second round however, and also posted the fastest qualifying run of the day with my Tekin Powered Venom Gambler.

In the triple A-Main format I had finishes of 2^nd, 3^rd and 1^st respectively to claim the second spot on the Podium. " Jesse Munn

Mike Mallot was at the Reo Raceway in Rockport, IN to run the Memorial Weekend Shootout. Mike's recap "The 12 minute main started off really good and I was able to get a little bit of a jump on the field. I made a big mistake on one of the big jumps early and allowed half the field to get around me. I dropped back to 5th but I knew we still had 10 minutes to go and anything could happen. I just paced myself and starting putting in consistent laps. About halfway through I was back up to 2nd and I was catching the leader. I caught him and ran right with him for a couple of laps and watched his lines. I knew I had a faster line at the end of the straight and I went for it. He went wide once again and I was able to sneak up the inside and make the clean pass. Once I got to the lead I started picking up the pace and jumping the big triple to try and put a little space in between myself and 2nd place. It worked out pretty well as I was able to stretch out about a 15 second lead pretty quickly. Once I got out that far I just started being smooth and consistent and went on to take the win by over 20 seconds. I was super stoked to be able to run that good. The racing was intense and I was happy to be out front. My OFNA/BCE Hyper 9e was awesome and really reacted to all the changes I made throughout the day. My Tekin Electronics and AKA tires allowed me the power and grip I needed all night and day to take the TQ honors and the A main win. The PT RC Racing Oils were awesome and gave me that smooth and consistent feel I needed throughout the day. "

Tekin drivers on top at the25th annual 2011 Hank Perry 240 in Spokane Wa!

One of the premier annual events in the Northwest area the 25th annual Hank Perry 240 was hosted once again by RCCCS. The race was once again threatened early on by weather. Practice saw a damp but usable track for controlled practice. The track crew was in top form making sure the track was in optimal condition come qualifying.

1/10 was up first and Tekin's Dave Gullickson was on a mission. Tq'ing the Stock truck class with his Tekin RS Redline 17.5 Losi XXXTcr. Dave used the same truck to Tq the Mod truck class again using a Tekin RS Redline 17.5 system! Dave would stay focused taking the Stock Truck title by taking A1 and A2 in dominating fashion. In Mod truck Dave would have some fierce competition with Justin Wilde. The two would both take one of the first A mains. The title would come down to A3 where Justin would just edge out Dave for the overall top spot.

In 1/8 Electric Buggy with a field of over 40 cars local hero Jeremy "PG-13" Potter would put himself in the 4th position after tough rounds of qualifying. Tires were key to this class choosing the right set was the difference from 1st to 6th. This field was heavy with talent with fellow Tekin Team drivers Jason Hunt and Jesse Munn in the class. In the end Tekin privateer Brady Johnson would take the top spot taking both A1 and A3. Jeremy Potter would take 4th overall followed by Jason Hunt(6th) and Jesse Munn(10th).

Brian also used Panther Switch 2.0's in soft compound.

Tekin podiums at the 1st Annual Motown Showdown in Modesto, California

The first ever Motown Showdown in Modesto, California was held May 13-15 which capped of to have around 75 entries. In 2wd Mod Buggy Zack found himself tarting 2nd behind Cody Turner who set the fastest pace in round two, three seconds over myself ,Tekin teammate Derick Stephenson found himself starting 5th. Zack Rogers Tq'd all three rounds of 4wd Mod Buggy and set track record for fast lap, 24.7!

With a good chance of rain on Sunday the plan was to have two A mains at 10 mins each to see who would be crowned overall champion in each class. The 2wd main was up first and the weather had just given a sample of what was going to happen next. At the 6 minute mark rain started coming down. We finished up the race with Zack Rogers in the 2nd spot, Derick Stephansen(Tekin) found himself 4th overall after the long mud packed race.

Shortly after the 4wd main was up and I was more than ready as the track had dried out just a bit. The buzzer went off and Zack was gone. His Tekin powered Kyosho car was on rails all weekend and within three mins I had already streached a 3/4 track lead over 2nd place Cody Hughey. Zack would suffer a rare car failure while still taking 2nd. A2 would be called due to weather.

Tekin's Clint Riley would win also take the Stock/Intermediate class with his 13.5 Redline powered Losi 22. Greg Stephansen would finish behind him, also Tekin powered.

"In the main the top 5 in quals were only 8 seconds apart. The main started off really well and my OFNA teammate and I were able to get away from the field early and were starting to pull away. I made a mistake under the bridge section and it took the marshal a few seconds to get to me and that dropped me back to about 5th spot. I knew I had a lot of time left so I put that behind me and started hitting my marks and making a charge. When I got to 3rd I could see the top 2 were starting to battle it out and if I could get to them I would be able to make my moves while they were racing each other. I caught them with about 4 minutes to go and stayed right there with them until about 3 minutes to go. I made a move on the leaders and went to the inside of both of them coming onto the straight and was able to out power them down the straight and take the lead. Once I got to the lead they were still battling it out and then they tangled under the bridge section. That allowed me to get away from the rest of the field and cruise for the last 2 minutes of the race and take the win. I was pumped with the win and to start the series off right. My OFNA/BCE Hyper 9e was awesome and really reacted to all the changes I made throughout the day. My Tekin Electronics and AKA tires allowed me the power and grip I needed all night and day to take the TQ honors and the A main win. Jim Kvidera qualified 2nd out of 70+ entries in the Electric 1/8 Buggy Class. Jim went on to win the Amain by a lap in E-buggy. Qualifying was tough due to traffic, tough competition and the hectic schedule.

"In Short Course I ran my DESC410R and it felt great! I didn’t touch it the entire day, just ran my one practice, two qualifiers, and the A-main. I was able to TQ every round of quals and take the victory in the A-main. For fun in the second qualifier I ran on the 1/8th layout (there was an option lane for the SC guys). I was only 1.4 seconds a lap on the 1/8th layout slower than my 1/8th buggy and truggy. My little DESC410R was flying – running the optional centre diff I was skying the huge hip jump with it and launching it off the back table top. Tekin's Darren Johnston wins 2011 New Zealand Electric Offroad Nationals, twice!

The 2011 Electric offroad nationals were held in the sunny Hawkes Bay on the East Coast of New Zealand over the weekend of April 1st ,2nd and 3rd. In total there were approximately 125 entries which is very good by New Zealand standards.

"I arrived early on Friday morning for practice and there was already alot of people there. The track looked very good. After running my cars in practice it was obvious the track was also going to stay very very slippery all weekend as well. In fact it was probably the slipperiest track I have ever run on.

Qualifying went ok but I was never quite on top of my driving and ended up 2nd in Truck Mod , 2nd in 2WD mod and 5th in 4WD mod. After a long night wrenching and changing a few more things it was finals day. I was quietly confident I could do better than qualifying. Each class had three finals with the best two counting towards your points and your throw out race being used as a tie breaker.

In Truck mod things did not go well in the first final and I had to pull out after two corners with a broken front arm. But luckily for me things went very well in the final two finals and I won them both setting fastest race and fastest lap time along the way. I also had the only 12 lap run of the meeting in Truck Mod in the second final giving me the National Championship in Truck Mod with Tekin Power!

In 2wd mod things were going to be very very close between myself and two other drivers. In the first final I had a second after struggling with a bad start and fighting my way back through the field. In the second final there was an early three way battle for the lead but by the half way mark the other two drivers had made errors and fallen back so I went onto win. In the third and deciding final I sat third all the way and in the end only missed 2nd by 0.08 second. The other top three driver Steve Oyston ran away with this race driving a faultless race. So that meant there were three of us tied on 19 points. However because my throw out race was a third and the other two drivers throw out race were much lower results I became the 2WD modified National Champion with Tekin Power.

In 4WD modified I had had two good results in the first finals but neither of them were wins. I had a mathematical chance of winning my third national title for the weekend but I would have to win and some other results would have to go my way. My car was now as quick as the other two drivers that were in with a chance and in the third final we were running nose to tail for a while. In the end I finished a couple of seconds away from first in a mistake free run. So I was third overall.

It was a great weekend for me my Tekin motors and speed controllers performed faultlessly. And it was the versatility and adjustability of the Tekin Speed Controllers that helped me adapt to a very slippery track." words by Darren Johnston.

"I attended the 2011 RC Pro US Series Round 2 at Indy RC this past weekend and after coming from my wins from the Icebreaker and 2011 RC Pro Texas State Series Round 1.

Qualifying in electric was what I was hoping for by setting TQ in rounds 2,3, and 4. I also set the fastest overall round even over nitro buggy with an 11 5:13. As for nitro it was nothing but troubles here and there and was going to start off in 6th.

In the mains for electric I took the win in the first two mains by leading wire to wire from my TQ position with a dominate lead in round 1 by 17 seconds and round 2 by 15 with Team Associated's Kraig Kruegar taking the second place spot. " words by David Joor

"The 2011 JBRL was off to a great start at Hotrod Hobbies in Valencia,Ca. With around 280 entries it was one heck of a long day for all the racers. After my last years performance in the SuperStock classes I decided to run Mod this year, hoping to gain experience with running with some of the pro guys such as Mike Truhe, Frank Root ,Hupo Hongio, Jurn Numann, along with many other rising talent. In my Mod 4wd I was sitting 3rd after both qualifiers only to line up behind both of Team Durangos factory guys sent here from different countries to start practicing for next weeks Cactus Classic. In 2wd I put in my best run in the first qually to which put me just under a second off TQ, sitting behind Frank Root and in front of Mike Truhe, both from the TLR camp. But after a quick pace in the second round from both of the Durango guys I was bumped back down to 5th on the starting grid.

After waiting all day to race around 8:30 my first main which was mod 4wd was up and I was more than ready to grap the wheel. Turn one was fairly clean and everyone got out only a spot or two from where they started. I came by the line on lap one in 2nd spot and was looking good for half the race and then piped it which moved me back to 4th. After a long fought battle with Hupo I ended up 3rd behind both of the Durango guys once again. A good hour or so later was the 2wd main event and I wanted a taste of the podium once again, but after getting caught in the first corner pile up my chances were not looking to good as I was running 7th or so. A few laps in I got in my rythem and moved into 4th where I would end up finishing! I would like to thank Tekin products for getting me the power I needed to finish strong with my RS Pros and 7.5/8.5 motors!" Zack Rogers

"I traveled up to REO Raceway in Indiana over the weekend for the Indiana Championships race. This would be the first outing for the Tekin Powered Losi 8E 2.0. With about 125 entries, I knew the buggy would have to be good, and from the first lap, it felt great. Power was very smooth and predictable running the RX8 and 1700 combo. I TQ'd Rd 1, but in the second and third round got bumped back to second place by about a second. At the horn of the A Main, I latched on the the bumper of the TQ Driver, on lap 5 I made my move tothe lead and continued to pull away from the field. At the Final tone, I had put a lap on the entire field and finished on a lap by myself taking the Indiana Championship with a commanding performance. Ken Miller podiums at both the Hurricane All Star Seires and Midwest Grandslam Series

The Hurricane All Star Seires and The Midwest Grandslam Series are each carpet on-road, multi leg, traveling series allowing 1 drop each. Together they cover the majority of the Midwest and some of the best talent in Carpet On-Road racing.

The Hurricane Series is best 4 out of 5 covering some favorite local tracks in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. I contested the season in 1/12th Stock, the season started slow as I was devloping a stock set-up for the relatively new Serpent S-120 link. The season picked up from there with a near TQ and 2nd place at the 2nd stop, then TQ and win at the 3rd and 5th stops. Ended the season winning the 1/12 Stock class. I also dabbled a little in Mini Cooper and Rubber Touring in a couple of the races. Through it all, from the Tekin FX in the Cooper, to the RS in the 1/12 and RS-Pro in the touring, I never suffered from a lack of Power.

The Midwest Grandslam series is a best 3 out of 4 series, covering Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. This series tries to provide the average racer with the Big Race experience with a low key atmosphere. From the Halloween Classic which is a warm up for the US Champs to the late Feburary race which is a great warm up for Carpet Nats, this series sees some of the Country's and even the World's best racers with entries from at least half a dozen National Champs and World Class drivers. I competed in both 1/12th Stock and World GT, while also coordianting the series. It was a tough field of top level stock drivers in 1/12th with Associated's Joe Trandell piloting his Tekin RS equip'd ride to a commanding Win and myself knocking on his back bumper at each turn for a 2nd place for the season, in all at least the top 8 were all running Tekin RS. In World GT, again it was Joe with nearly a perfect season and the 2nd place came down to the last, tied for second I got the better qualifing spot but Rich Martsolf drove a better main and bested me for 2nd and I settled for 3rd. Again nearly the entire field was Tekin equip'd.

David Joor Dominates the first round of the RC Pro Texas State Series!

The first round of the RC Pro Texas State Series held at Mike's Hobbyshop in Porter Texas had some of the fastest drivers around coming to compete and kick off the series right!

This was David's second outing with his RC8B's and continuing with his success from the previous week at the Icebreaker, David Joor took home 1st place in both electric 8th scale buggy and nitro 8th scale buggy. Qualifying went very well taking TQ in electric and 2nd in nitro. It wasn't till the last round of qualifying that David found the correct tire/foam/wheel package where he ran the fastest qualifying times of the race by 4 seconds over Xray/Avid's Jason Branham. To show the consistency of the RC8B's, in round two David ran 12 5:02 in both buggies and in the final and 3rd round in which he ran 13 5:15 in both buggies! With qual points used out of 3 rounds, Branham had TQ'd secured from his dominate runs in R1 and R2 in nitro buggy. David had this to say :

" It felt great to have all my mains run with no bobbles and equipment running flawless and to have a home with AE/REEDY/AKA/TEKIN where I feel the most confident I ever have."

"I qualified 1st,TQing the Mod truck A-main. I had a good hole shot off the line with 8 other Mod Trucks be hide me. Leading the first lap I went down the hill from the counting corner and went over the doubles and spun out. I got the truck turned around and was now in fifth place. Mike Weyers and Jason Hills were battling it out for first. I was going over a jump on the left side of the track. When I saw second place Jason Hills going down the back straight. I bumped the tube in that corner just as Jason caught the tube up by the counting stand. By the time I got going again time had run out on the five minute race.I finished 3rd.

It was fun racing my Tekin teammate and brother Mike Weyers. He knew I was coming for him. I was happy to see Mike win the A-main."

So Brian TQ'd mod truck and took 3rd for the A main. Mike Weyers qualified 3rd and got first in the A main. Not a bad weekend!

Motorama Crawling is full of Tekin!

Motorama was once again full of tough competition. Crawlers from all over gathered for this very unique event.
Arthur Bell reports:

"Next up was 1.9 Pro, this time only the top 5 were advancing and I was ready as I drove my first course my goal was only to complete it, it was a tough course but I finished with a 14, on to the next one with a little more confidence in my rig and finished with a-2. As I approached my third and final course the judges were calculating, to make the top 5 I needed to get negative score, -7 would do, I looked at them and said, " no pressure, eh??". I put my rig in it's place on the course and started, gate one was no issue but as I approached gate two a wheel got stuck in a hole and flipped my truck upside down!! I took a breath and just tried to work it out, using the throttle to rock the rig back and forth so it would flip itself back over, now I was worried that the timer was getting low, and finally it righted itself!! I still had 4 more gates to go!! Ok, back to work!! Finally got lined up and drove gate 2 without a problem and managed to drive the remaining gates without issue, finished!! Thinking I had blown my chances, I looked up at the Judge and asked what I got. Chris from RC Driver magazine was the Judge, and he said "thanks a lot, you got a -7 and bumped me from the top 5!!" We shared a laugh and then turned my final score in. It was good enough not only for top 5, but 3rd place!! As I was the last one to run, it was time for some food and rest, tomorrow is the top 5 finals!! Day 3: Day 3 started the same as day 2, up early, coffee, and off to the event!! The 2.2 Pro top 25 was up first and the drivers came to work! As I was judging I only able to see one course, but as usual it was brutal and difficult to navigate and kept the drivers thinking!! Soon it was over and the top 5 drivers had been determined, and all were running FXR's!! Next up was the 1.9 top 5 finals. Due to the points gaps and points system, unless a driver had a catastrophic failure or melt down, the finishing place would most likely remain the same, and they did. I finished the day in 3rd place, which I am happy with as this was the first time I had ever driven the rig!!"

David Joor is the fastest driver at the 2011 Icebreaker held at Indy RC!

David attended the 2011 Icebreaker at Indy RC in Garland TX. This was David's first race with his new Tekin powered RC8B's. Qualifying was rough because I was working out learning the cars and breaking in the diffs but was always on pace to TQ with a lot of home track favorites present. David won the first two mains of electric and got 2nd in nitro 4 seconds behind Mike Battaile. "I was really happy with my new cars, they fit my driving style so look even more forward to the future." David must have been very happy turning the fastest lap of the event with his electric buggy in Q1 with a 27.0.

Eric Anderson kills 'em at the 2011 Mid West Grand Slam finale!

The 2011 season finale of the Midwest Grand Slam series was held at R/Car Marion Fairgrounds raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana. It would be the final race of the season in the Midwest traveling race series. The format would be open practice on Friday, 3 qualifiers on Sat and 1 qualifier and Mains on Sunday.

Arriving Friday night for a couple of hours of practice I noticed how great the facility was on my first trip there. James Reilly looked to be setting the fastest pace in stock TC in practice. After a few battery packs on the track with my Tekin powered T3'11 and XII 12th scale I felt like I was in good shape for Saturday. Arriving Saturday morning I decided to try some different tires in practice and they did not seem to be as good so back to Jaco blues for the rest of the weekend. After 1 round of controlled practice I was in the top 5 of practice times. In 12th scale I was in the top 5 as well in practice times going into the first round of qualifying. After the first round I as sitting 3rd in TC with some mistakes . In 12th scale I was in 7th and the car was not handling as I would like so I decided to make some major changes to it and skip the 2nd round of qualifying. In the 2nd round if TC I set fastest time to take the TQ and would keep it for the remainder of the event running faster in rounds 3 and 4. After some MAJOR changes to the 12th scale and a complete reconfiguration I sat the car down in the 3rd qualifier no knowing what to expect. What happened was I picked up almost 2 complete laps and TQ'd round 3 and held it throughout the weekend.

Tekin Kills 'em at the 2011 RC Pro Series Cabin Fever supercross!

This year's Cabin Fever was held at Lucky Acres Arena in Lewiston, ID on February 11, 12 and 13. The race had an amazing turnout this go around, topping out at over 230 total entries, with Nitro Buggy and Truggy, Electric Buggy and Truggy, 4WD and 2WD Open Short Course and 4WD Modified Buggy all jam packed with competition.

1/8 E-Buggy is getting bigger in the North West, with enough racers to fill up three full mains at the Cabin this year. Tekin's newest Driver, Taylor Petersen debuted the new Mugen MBX6e ECO powered by a Tekin RX8/2050 T8 combo, who would snag TQ followed closely by Tekin's Jeremy Potter and his Tekin RX8/2050 T8 powered Hot Bodies Ve8.

1/8 E-Truggy is also growing and the TQ spot would be grabbed by none other that the Prez himself, Jim Campbell, followed by Tekin's Chris DeWinter in the #2 spot and Ty Campbell in the #3.

4x4 Short Course this year was also a sizeable class with three full heats. Team Driver Jack Leighan came out on top with the TQ spot after qualifying with his Tekin Powered Jammin'. A1 and A2 were both solild runs for Jack and he locked up the top spot early, which let the other drivers fight for the A3 main.

2WD Open Short Course had outstanding entries with 45 trucks. Team Associated's Justin Wilde and Tekin's Ty Campbell battled it out in quals for the pole with Justin snagging the TQ spot in the 3rd qualifier with Ty close on his heels. Short Course was stacked with great drivers and the competition was intense.

A1 main was a great battle between Ty and Justin Wilde, finishing with Justin in front and Ty just .9 seconds of his bumper. A2 started a little more hectic with Ty getting punted in the first corner and dropping to 5th which let Justin and Tekin's Jesse Munn get out in front of the pack. Ty fough back to 3rd but there was no catching the two out front and Justin locked up A2. The final main was a good one, Ty got out clean and never looked back, which secured 2nd place with the win in A3 while Prez snagged 2nd to secure 3rd overall.

With triple A-main format, it was totally up in the air who would land with the two, or in Taylor's case, three best runs! Taylor brought the heat in E-buggy to win all three A-mains and bring home some shiny hardware for Mugen and Tekin. Jeremy Potter claimed the 2nd spot and Team Losi's Randy Nolen the third, all three podium drivers running Tekin RX8s and 2050 T8 motors. Tekin's Jason Hunt finished Ty and Prez finished 6th overall and 7th overall.

E-Truggy was a fight to the finish in each main, with the Prez cleaning up in A1 and Ty taking the 2nd spot. A2 switched it up a bit with Ty taking the win, followed by DeWinter in the number 2 spot and Prez in the 3. It was all or nothing in A3 between father and son! Both were off to a great clean start and proceeded to pull away from the pack, putting almost an entire lap up on the field and would finish with the Prez taking A3 and the overall with Ty right on his wing the entire race!

Just as last year, the Cabin was well ran, a great track layout, the surface was premiere and the racing was awesome. Dude and the RC Pro Series threw a great event that is getting bigger every year. Only 360 days til the next one!

Kev Lee takes the win at the European indoor race held at Black Country Arena

The European indoor race takes place yearly at an indoor facility in a town called Charlerio. It's a technical indoor astroturf track open to club member 24 hours a day for practice so there are a lot of fast local guys. There are also a lot of top drivers that attend from the uk, germany and france. Its the first time ive been there and I felt pretty slow when I arrived compared to the locals!

There was a serious amount of running too! 1 day of free practice and then 8 qualifiers and 6 finals in both classes so the motors were worked hard! I won 2wd which I'm quite pleased with considering my qualifying wasn't great ending up 6th on the grid!

I was running my Tekin Powered Vega conversions for the kyosho rb5. It's an alloy machined inboard motor car. I used a Redline 7.5 Motor with the following setup:

Tekin DOMINATES the Electric Indoor Super Regional’s !!!

The Warehouse Indoor Raceway in Helena Alabama hosted the Electric Indoor Super Regional’s this weekend. With close to 100 entries from all over the country the racing action is proving to be top notch! The largest turnouts were in Electric Pro Buggy and 2wd and 4wd Short Course classes.

The Electric 1/8 Buggy class had some standout talent from different parts of the region. Martin Harrison from Louisiana, Ryan Lopez from Georgia, and Alan Burton from Alabama are all in attendance and setting the pace for the class and running Team Tekin Equipment. After quick interviews with these guys it looks as if Ryan(Team Losi) is running a Tekin 1900kv, Martin (Team Tekin, JConcepts, and MaxAmps) also using the Tekin 1900kv, and after 4 rounds of qualifying in elec buggy Alan Burton (Team Serpent) set TQ opting to use the Tekin 1700kv motor for his Serpent Cobra 811E.

This weekend had some extreme cold temperatures which made tire choices a complicated decision. The traction changed from one run to another. After 4 rounds of qualifying Martin Harrison set TQ in elec Truggy using Tekin 2000kv motor along with Jconcepts 7’s as his tire choice and MaxAmps 6500 batteries.

On Sunday for the Mains the temperatures were in the low 30’s and again tire choices were critical. Martin Harrison was able to win the first two mains and securing the top spot in truggy. Buggy A1 found Lopez in first, Alan Burton in Second and Martin Harrison a DNF with mechanical failure. A2 Lopez was able to squeeze out another win, with Martin Harrison in second, and Alan Burton in Fourth. A3 was a battle to the end with Alan Burton taking first, and Martin Harrison finishing second. Buggy overall was Ryan Lopez in 1st , Alan Burton in 2nd, and Martin Harrison in 3rd giving Team Tekin a full podium in the electric buggy class. (words by Martin Harrison)

Michael Malott wins big at the 2nd Annual Indoor SC Truck champs!

2nd Annual Indoor SC Truck champs race was hosted at Reo Raceway in Rockport, IN. The 17.5 Spec SC class has been the biggest class for the past year and a half at Reo Raceway and this past saturday night was no different. Their were 56 17.5 Spec SC trucks in attendance with some of the fastest guys coming from Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

I bought my old FT SC10 back from a friend on Thursday night and worked all night Friday and Saturday morning to get the truck ready to go to try and compete for the win and the $250 that was on the line for this race. I installed a new Tekin RS with a Redline 17.5 and mounted up a few fresh sets of AKA SCT tires. I got the truck finished up on Saturday and put about 10 minutes of practice time in before the quals started.

The first qual started and I was still getting used to the truck and made a few small mistakes that put me towards the back of the B qualifier after the 1st round. I was able to get a a little practice in between rounds and tried a couple different sets of tires and finally made my choice of a set of new SS Gridirons all the way around. Since the turnout was so big they decided to cut it back to 2 quals instead of 3 so I knew I had to be on it in the second qualifier to put it in the A main. I started off the 2nd qual setting a blistering pace and half way through the race I was the only Corr truck to be on a 19 lap pace. I was having a good run going only to get caught up with lappers and have a couple bad laps and drop back about 10 seconds which cost me the TQ by .7 seconds. I was pretty bummed to miss TQ but I was happy to be starting up front and I knew I had the speed and the right tire combination going into the A Main.

The 10 minute A Main started and I got out to a good jump. I settled into the second spot and just paced myself off the leader. We were setting a fast pace out front so I just played the waiting game and stayed on his bumper the whole race waiting for him to make a mistake. We started lapping the field about 4 minutes into the race and I knew I was in the right spot to make a late charge. With about 3 minutes to go I started to make my moves and applying a lot of pressure and showing him my nose at every corner. I had a very good line through the double-double and sweeper section and I knew if I was going to make a clean pass it would come there. When we got 2 minutes to go I made my move around the outside of the sweeper and pulled off the outside pass and was able to get the inside line on the next corner. Once I got to the lead I started pushing the pace and slowly pulled away at the end of the race eventually winning the race by over a full lap. My Tekin 17.5 gave me the power I needed to make the pass on the outside and my AKA Gridirons were dialed the whole main.

1/8 E-Buggy

In the E-Buggy class we had a small group and some new guys in the mix.

The 1st qual started and right off the bat I knew I was in trouble as I made the wrong choice of tires. In practice I had ran Wishbones and they were awesome but as the track dried out a little they started to go away with the track. I just kept trying to make solid laps and ended up finishing 3rd for the first round. After the first round I decided to switch to the SS Gridirons since the track was drying out and I knew they were working good on my SC truck so I ended up running them in the 2nd qual. When the second qual got started I was flying right from the start and setting a blistering pace. I got in a groove about 3 minutes into the qual and started clicking off fast laps right after another and ended up putting in an awesome run and managed to take the TQ.

The 12 minute A main started and I got out to a huge lead and in the first 2 minutes I got into lapped traffic. I was making my way through the traffic and had already built a 10 second lead on the field. I got into trouble with a lapper right after the quad jump and as soon as the marshall got to the car he picked it up and threw it down right in front of another car and be blasted me in the left rear and broke the camber link so I was done for the main. I was really dissapointed with how it happened but there is always next time. My OFNA hyper 9E was on rails when I got the right tires combo and I had the car to beat all night just had a little bad luck in the main.

Tekin Dominates 17th Annual Snowbirds Nationals (Road Course)

This was to be my first ever Snowbirds Nationals. I must admit that I was going in a little intimidated. Racing from 5am until after midnight on some nights sounded a little crazy to be honest. However once I showed up late Monday evening I felt a lot better. I got no sleep the first night as I was far too excited to hit the track with 2 cars I’d never driven. My WGT was not ready nor was my T.O.P TC ride for the weekend. I spent the first round making sure the team had what they needed to hit the ground running. Rd 2 was up sooner than I expected however EJ Evans from TOP made sure I was ready to run. Having no local racetracks with carpet let alone carpet with this much bite made for a very steep learning curve. Luckily for me I was running blinky stock and already knew the right ratio for the Tekin Redline 17.5 I was using.

Qualifying began with the track slowly but surely getting more and more traction. People started traction rolling and having tight cars. Lucky for me EJ Evans from TOP Racing was there to keep me on the right path with my TOP TC rent a ride. My WGT car was expertly wrenched on by fellow Speedmerchant drivers Tim, Joel, and Steve . This allowed me focus on the team. Thanks guys!

Team Drivers were looking fast right out of the gate exchanging Tq’s in nearly every round with fellow team drivers as well as privateer Tekin users. Tekin Driver Eric Anderson would Tq Stock TC with his X-ray. Josh Cyrul would Tq WGT running a Tekin RS Pro in his Cefx ride. Andrew Knapp Tq’d 1/12th GTP 17.5(blinky) with a Tekin RS Pro powered CRC car as well take Tq honors in 1/12th GTP 13.5. Mike Haynes would take his Tekin RS Pro powered Hot Bodies TCX to a Tq position in Expert TC 17.5.

Clearly the Tekin RS/RS Pro was the speedo of choice for nearly every class tq’ing all classes except Mod Tc and Mod 1/12 GTP.

Mains Day was here sooner than we knew it. The team was set to back up their Tq performances and win some hardware. First up was WGT with Josh Cyrul as Tq followed by Tekin Team Driver Mike Dumas. Josh would get a great start. For the first few laps Mike Dumas would slowly inch up on Josh lap after lap. He would get very close to Josh as they both started coming up to traffic. Both would get through cleanly however Dumas would tap allowing Josh to walk away leading from tone to tone.

1/12th GTP 17.5 would come to be known as 1/12th Blinky. This was a very exciting race to watch. Andrew Knapp would start from the pole and lead the entire race. Ej Evans though was not to be denied and pushed hard to catch Andrew. Kenny Lambert would also challenge for position with Ej. Kenny and Ej’s battle would slow them down enough to allow Andrew to walk away with this one.

Stock Touring a.k.a Blinky Stock would be Tq’d by Tekin Team Driver Eric Anderson. EA laid down some of the fastest laps of the weekend in this class with this Tekin Powered X-ray. Eric however would get blasted on the first turn dropping him all the way to the back of the pack. The luck would be found by Austin Harrison and Dustin Lane. These two got away the cleanest and would battle for the top spot for the rest of the race. Dustin put on a late charge but would tap allowing Austin to take the win.

Expert TC ran 17.5 boosted at this event. Tq Mike Haynes would get out in front early from his pole position and never look back. The battles would be from 2nd on down with the rest of the pack fighting for podium spots.

1/12th GTP 13.5 Expert class would see Andrew Knapp on the pole. Tekin Team Driver Mike Dumas sitting 2nd in his Tekin Powered Speedmerchant Rev 6 would be on Knapp’s bumper right off the bat. Mike’s constant pressure would eventually crack Knapp allowing for a great passing opportunity. Andrew would battle back and the pair would race down the straight away. Dumas had the inside line with Knapp on the outside one of the most exciting races of the day. Andrew would come down onto Dumas leaving him no choice but to hold his line. The two collided in one of the biggest off track incidents of the weekend! Dumas would come out the best landing on his tires and blasting back into the race. Knapp would fall back never to return to the top 3. This allowed Dumas to get back out and run on his own or so we though. Mike Blackstock would come out of seemingly nowhere to catch up to Dumas but would run out of time. Mike Dumas would take the win.
